Destin is an eclectic artist who refuses to nail his artistic expression into a genre coffin. With works ranging from classical piano to hard industrial techno, one never knows what to expect from his next release. His music is characterized by soulful, soaring melodies, improvisational elements, fusions of juxtaposing genres, saxophone virtuosity, energetic and driving beats, and unique emotional landscapes.
Destin has been writing new music since his arms where long enough to reach the piano keys. In 2008, he graduated from the University of Montana a minor in Music Composition and Bachelor's in Political Science and French. He then took a job as an English teacher at the University of Toulouse, France. In the evenings, he could be found playing with a local reggae band or jamming with flamenco guitarists on the banks of the Garonne.
During his three years in France, Destin visited Berlin and was completely enamored with the vibrant, edgy city. He moved there in 2010 and stayed for over a decade. Thrust into the hard, driving techno scene, he learned to produce electronic music in the city's unique, gritty style. But he never lost his expressive and improvisational roots in classical and jazz music. The two albums he made there (Poor, but Saxy and Chambre Music) demonstrate a mastery of electronic music combined with willingness to push through boundaries and innovate.
Destin was featured on the groundbreaking artist Portrait XO’s AI album, ‘The Wire’, as well as the single ‘Home’. He also supported Alexandr London for his performance at Red Bull Studios Berlin in 2019. In 2024, the Montana Composer's Association invited Destin to debut five of his piano works in Great Falls. He currently performs with the Helenan band Marly and the Pocket. While it's only been a year since his first album release, his music has been streamed over 50,000 times on various platforms.
Destin began producing music for others in 2019, making two songs for his sister Shyralee while thousands of miles away from each other. When he returned to Montana in 2022, the success of this collaboration inspired them to open a music studio and record label. ESC was born, and Destin’s meandering path there had made him somewhat of a musical jack-of-all-trades. He decided to formalize his music production education by joining The Reverse Engineer by Mastering.com, a lifelong e-learning and mentorship community that is the gold standard in online sound engineering education. His productions are not just informed by what he’s learned there. They are also run by a team of highly qualified sound engineers to ensure the highest quality music.
So far, Destin has produced three of his own albums, two albums for Shyralee + one remix album, one song + remix for Bransun Mitchell, one song for Andrea Crossguns, and two piano+vocal works for Lisa & Kathy. Most of this music has yet to be released, so there are lots of exciting sounds coming soon!
