‘Poor, but saxy’ tells the story of a young, naive Montanan moving to ‘poor, but sexy’ Berlin, the Mecca of gay nightlife and electronic music. The composer and saxophonist was inspired to start producing, but the dark drive of Berliner techno never quite drowned out his soulful and improvisational roots. Much more playful and lighthearted than Destin’s upcoming techno album, ‘Chambre Music’, ‘Poor, but Saxy’ is an eclectic compilation of electronica, house, jazz fusion, and alternative that doesn’t fit in a dark club, but rather at a spring Open Air on Tempelhofer Feld. Calm innocence builds into risqué excitement, relaxes into fleeting intimacy, but then the Universe steps in to shatter the silly delusions we build our lives upon.
